In 2011 I went to my therapist and was discussing everything that had happened over the previous few weeks. I posed this question:
“Every few weeks I come and talk and talk and you listen. But it never feels like I accomplish anything other than talking. Aren’t you supposed to recommend things for me to try in between visits?" " I don't know,Get a dog” or “start a garden” was her response. This was the beginning of my book A Warrior's Garden and ultimately the start of  Warfighter Gardens.
